Ninja Gaiden 3 on the NES was the first non RPG game I remember playing where I actually cared about the story. The game came out pretty late in the NES lifecycle in 1991...sort of pushed the system to the limit. The music is all pretty intense as was standard for Ninja Gaiden titles.
